BC TEAM TRAINING SESSION NO. 2

BC TEAM TRAINING SESSION NO. 2

Congratulations to all those who attended the 2nd BC TEAM training session.  We started out with a Blitz tournament and then moved on to an excellent lesson on tournament preparation.  In the afternoon our competitors faced off with a 60+30 game followed by game analysis.  Finally those with too much energy left played bug-house until we kicked them out.

Blitz tournament

A good turn-out

A few pointers from the lecture:

  • prepare 2 opennings
  • its easier to win if you trade off one of the opponents rooks
  • keep the distance between your king and the opponents rook to less than or equal to 3 squares.
  • analyse your game without a computer before using the computer to check your thoughts.
  • when you finish your game, put your first impression of your game on the back of your playing sheet.
  • When playing focus on the board, do not look at the opponent or react to his/her moves

A birthday celebration

Excellent post game analysis
